Claude Ray Perry

   Claude Ray Perry, 80, of Suffolk, VA, died peacefully on May 31, 2023 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

   Ray was born in Perquimans County on September 10, 1942 and was the son of the late Claude R. and Cornelia Hare Perry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda P. Toppin.

   After growing up in Tyner, NC, Ray lived most of his life in Chuckatuck, VA. He was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired as Supervisor of Shipbuilding-Newport News.

   Surviving is his wife, Angie Perry; daughters, Shelley Kaczkowsky (husband, Edward) and Rana Weaver (husband, Donnie); stepson, Jim Dyess (wife, Melanie); grandchildren, Will and Dailey Ellis and Jessica and Jack Dyess; a sister, Sue P. Carr of Tyner; and nephews, Brad and Randy Toppin and Brian Douglas Chappell.

   A private graveside service will be held.
