Christopher Howard Cooper

   Christopher Howard "Chris" Cooper, 43, of 646 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

   Chris was born in Pasquotank County on April 1, 1979, and was the son of Melvin Howard Cooper, Jr. and Georgie Credle Cooper of Hertford. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lary Harris, Jr., and by a nephew, Robert Wayne "Rob" Ballance, Jr.

   Employed as a Mobility Specialist with Freedom Motors based in Michigan, he was a member of Bagley Swamp Wesleyan Church and had more recently attended Towne South Church of Christ. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, grilling, and working in his garage. Other enjoyments included Chevrolets and drag racing. His family meant everything to him and especially loved spending time with his wife and children.

   In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Amy Harris Cooper; his daughter, Natalie Alexandra Cooper of Knoxville, TN; his son, Christopher H. "Topher" Cooper, Jr. of Hertford; and a sister, Julie McQuerry of Elizabeth City. Also surviving are Amy's family, her mother, Deborah Harris (Sandy Bowers) of Hertford; two sisters, Lisa Harris of Georgia and Kelly Ackermann of New Hampshire; her brother, Lary "Buddy" Harris, III of Hertford; two nieces, Brianna Ackermann and Lailana Harris; two nephews, Antwan Harris and Chad Ackermann; and many aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

   A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Towne South Church of Christ, 2224 Peartree Road, Elizabeth City, and will be conducted by Minister Brad Giffin. Friends may visit with the family in the church immediately following the service on Friday, and other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
