Margaret Annette Stevenson Morgan, 84, born April 6, 1938, a native of Pasquotank County, NC, and daughter of the late Marshall Holmes Stevenson, Sr. and Margaret Camilla Morris Stevenson, continued her journey to be with her Lord and Savior on August 18, 2022.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Lee Morgan (Debra) of Perquimans County; her brother, Marshall Holmes Stevenson, Jr. (Frances) of Weeksville; two nephews, Keith Stevenson of Elizabeth City and John Jones of Greenville, SC; and by her niece, Lisa Stevenson Tooley of Scranton. Annette is also survived by her grandson, Benjamin (Jenna), and a great grandson, Corbin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ray Morgan; her sister, Helen Marie Stevenson Jones; and by her sister-in-law, Murna Arnette White Stevenson.
Annette graduated from Weeksville High School in 1956 and was married that same year to her loving husband, Glenn Morgan. They enjoyed 44 happy years together until his death in 2000. Annette and Glenn settled in Rocky Mount, as it was Glenn’s final duty station with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Their final residence and retirement home was in the country bordering a creek named Fishing Creek near Whitakers. Their son, Kevin, followed in his Dad’s footsteps, and was also a North Carolina Highway Patrolman, now retired.
Annette cherished her former years, having grown up in the county near Symons Creek, as she especially enjoyed her many friends during her school years at Weeksville High School. She was employed for many years with a Rocky Mount Insurance Agency, and valued many friendships she developed over the years. Annette was a member of Hickory Baptist Church near Whitakers, where she worshiped with a fellowship of believers. Her commitment to God will continue through her family and those she loved.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the compassionate and loving kindness extended to Annette by the nurses and administrators at Waterbrooke Assisted Living of Elizabeth City.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral service will be held, and burial of her cremated remains, along with her husband’s cremated remains will be in the Stevenson Family Plot at West Lawn Cemetery in Elizabeth City.
