Wayne Crockett

   Leroy Wayne “Big Daddy” Crockett, 84, of 4512 Gilbert’s Beach Road, Tyner, NC, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mr. Crockett was born in York County, VA on October 12, 1933, and was the son of the late Judson Leroy Crockett and Thelma Mae Riley Crockett Dudley. A retired mechanic, he was a member of both Elks Hampton Lodge #366 and West Hampton Baptist Church, and more recently attended and enjoyed fellowship with Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Hogge and Gwen Moss.

   Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Anne Jones Crockett; four sons, David Crockett, Rodney Crockett, Brian Crockett and wife, Theresa, and Terry Crockett and wife, Nancy; a daughter, Christie Beasley and husband, Brent; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his beloved pet, Chance; and many dear friends.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Parr. Friends may join the family in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service on Thursday, and all other times at the residence.
