William David White, 66, of Eure, NC, died Sunday, March 29, 2020.
Mr. White was born in Bertie County on July 5, 1953, and was the son of J. Tyler White of Askewville and the late Joy Byrd White. Retired after 32 years with the Hertford County School System, he taught Carpentry and was the Advisor for the Hunter Safety Team. After retiring from teaching, he worked with Metal Tech of Murfreesboro. Community involvement included his longtime membership in both Cool Spring Baptist Church and the Eure Volunteer Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he could be found hunting, fishing, or trapping in his spare time.
Surviving in addition to his father is his wife of 42 years, Joann Brown White; three daughters, Kristen White of Charlotte, Amy Phippins and husband, Benny, of Rockmart, GA, and Alissa White and husband, Tommy Gehrels, of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Carolyn Savage and husband, Chuck, of Manteo; and two granddaughters, Brooke and Claire Phippins.
A private memorial service will be held and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Joe McKnight.
The family asks that flowers be omitted, and contributions in his memory be made to either the Eure Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 10, Eure, NC 27935, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
