William Benjamin Miller

 William Benjamin “Country” Miller, 89, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

 Mr. Miller was born in Chowan County on February 10, 1935, and was the son of the late William Elliott Miller and Margaret Walker Lillie Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Whitley and Francetta Godfrey.

 Retired as a sheet metal mechanic from the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City following 30 years of employment, he loved the outdoors and especially working in his vegetable garden. Other enjoyments included spending time with family, and many remember how he loved sitting outside by his garage and watching people drive by and visiting with those who stopped to chat. A veteran, he had served in the Army.

 Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Patricia Combs Miller; two sons, W. Dwayne Miller and Alden P. Miller (Karen), both of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Emogene Gentry of Newport and Barbara Ann Oyler of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Madison, Sydney, and Kyle; and many extended family members.

 A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Symons Creek Tabernacle and will be conducted by the Rev. Gene Chory. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service on Sunday.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Symons Creek Tabernacle, 460 Meadstown Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
