William Warren Hooker, Jr.

   William Warren “Billy” Hooker, Jr., 74 of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.

   Mr. Hooker was born in Pasquotank County on December 9, 1949, and was the son of the late William Warren “Panco” Hooker, Sr. and Mildred Louise Bateman Hooker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Simon Keel.

   A skilled laborer in the construction industry, he was an avid sports fan and loved watching football, and also found great enjoyment fishing.

   Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Wendy Brooks Hooker; two sons, William “Billy” Hooker, III and Robert Hooker, both of Columbia, SC; a brother, Lloyd Charles “Charlie” Hooker (wife, Kay) of Elizabeth City; and four grandchildren, Bodie Hooker, Spencer Hooker, Katelyn Keel and Simon Keel, Jr. Also surviving are Wendy’s three sisters, Sharon Ross, Linda Baum, and Fran Haskett.

   Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Bundy-Lowe Family Cemetery, 701 Mount Herman Church Road, Elizabeth City. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service.
