William Love Carr

   William Love “Bill” Carr, 71, of 575 Paige Riddick Road, Gates, NC, died Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

   Bill was born in Nansemond County, VA on April 18, 1952 and was the son of the late Charles Brosia Carr, Jr. and Dolly Belle Watson Carr and was raised in the fellowship of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk. He had retired as an office manager with Coastal AgroBusiness, a supplier of farm chemicals.

   Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Wanda Davenport Carr; a daughter, Krystal Payne (husband, Rob) of Arkansas; three sons, William Carr, Jr. (wife, Angie) of Franklin, VA, David Carr of Smithfield, VA, and Eric Carr of Missouri; a sister, Dolly Holland (husband, Tom, deceased) of Virginia Beach, VA and a brother, Charles Carr, III (wife, Michelle), of Chesapeake, VA. Also surviving are Wanda’s sons, John Chapman (wife, Penny) of Creswell and Jeff Chapman (wife, Najla) of Kansas City, MO. Together Bill and Wanda shared eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by Pastors Cody Brinkley and Don Phelps. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall of Gatesville Baptist Church immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
