Wayne White

   W. Wayne White, 76, of 1226 Sound Shore Drive, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Vidant Bertie Hospital, Windsor.

   Mr. White was born in the Manns Harbor community of Dare County on August 13, 1942, and was the son of the late Melvin and Guelda Twiford White. A graduate of Chowan College, he later attended Virginia Tech University, and then began his life’s work as a Civil Engineer. Working in that capacity with the Virginia Department of Transportation for 31 years, after retiring he worked with Parsons Brinckerhoff Facilities Services of Herndon, VA. He was married in and attended Edenton United Methodist Church, had served in the Army National Guard, had been a member of the Edenton Rotary and Edenton Lions Clubs, and for nine years served on the Board of Directors of the former Chowan Golf & Country Club, now The Links at Mulberry Hill.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara, and by a brother, Charles.

   Surviving are his wife, Nancy Carol White; his daughter, Leigh Anne Wauford and her husband, Scott, of Columbia, TN; his son, Stephen W. White of Edenton; Nancy’s children, Elizabeth Duncan of Aldie, VA and John Overbey of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Hunter, Emmy, Wesley, Shelby, and Colin; a sister, Debra McGlone of Knightdale; and a brother, Michael White of Williamsburg, VA.

   A memorial service will be held Friday, June 21^st, at 11:00 a.m. in Edenton United Methodist Church and will be conducted by The Rev. Chris Aydlett.
