Vera Boyce “Teenie” Wallace, 89, died Friday, April 17, 2020, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Chowan County on December 12, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Charlie Baker Boyce and Janie Elizabeth Byrum Boyce. A retired financial counselor with General Motors in Atlanta, GA, she was a faithful member of Edenton First Assembly of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Boyce; and by sisters, Eva Silverthorne, Hazel Hollowell, Mabel Lane, and Selma Evans.
Surviving are her daughter, Sue Mazzoli (Andrew) of Batesburg, SC; two sons, Jeff Knox (Rae) of Edenton and Larry Knox (Lisa) of Washington, NC; eleven grandchildren, Carson Gross (Phillip) of Leesville, SC, Christian Penn (Michael) of Memphis, TN, Paul Mazzoli (Jessica) of Detroit, MI, Peter Mazzoli (Sarah) of Anthem, AZ, Mary Helen Swift (Andrew) of Memphis, TN, Keith Knox (Tina) of Greenville, Kenny Knox (Casey) of Lakeland, FL, Kevin Knox (Krysten) of New Bern, Leah Knox of Greensboro, Benjamin Knox of Los Angeles, CA, and Jordan Knox of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren, Cadence, Carolina, Elizabeth, Isabella, Jordan, Judah, Kaylee, Melody, Merri Charlotte, Phillip, Seth, Raegan, Genesis, Holly, Bailee, and Judah.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Debbie Harris who stepped in and took care of “Miss Vera” whenever they were out of town. Knowing someone was there who loved her and would take care of her gave them peace of mind while they were gone. They also wish to acknowledge Ginger Griffin and the Palliative Care nurses of Vidant Chowan Hospital for the loving care they showed to both Vera and to them during her transition. Words can never express how sincerely they appreciate the compassion shown.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 19th, at 5:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastors Andrew Knott, Randy Pierce, and Bernard Hurdle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Edenton First Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 426, Edenton, NC 27932, or to the Tri-County Animal Shelter, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980.
