Troy Vaughn Wheeler, Jr.

 Troy Vaughn Wheeler, Jr., 57, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, in his home.

 Troy was born in Houston, TX on November 17, 1967, and was the son of Erlene Wieters Wheeler of Houston and the late Troy Vaughn Wheeler, Sr.

 A US Navy veteran, he enlisted when he was 19 and served for over 20 years before retiring with the rank of HT1 (Hull Maintenance Technician, First Class). His many awards, medals, and citations included the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2), the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3), and being recognized as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. After his military career, he used his training in working with the Department of Defense (MARMC, Norfolk, VA) as a shipbuilding specialist.

 In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Heather Ann Huda Wheeler; two sisters, Roxanne Wheeler of Houston, TX and Michelle Wheeler Rother (husband, Brock) of McDade, TX; nieces, Anna and Lara; a nephew, Gus; and his in-laws, Dr. Brian D. and Maryann Huda of Monroe, CT; as well and many friends and co-workers.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the South Main Baptist Church, 4300 East Sam Houston Parkway South, Pasadena, TX 77505.

 A local service is also being planned and will be updated to this obituary when finalized.

 Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home and Crematory, Gatesville chapel, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
