Floyd Thomas “Tommy” Watson, Sr., 85, of Washington, NC, and a former resident of the Eure community of Gates County, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
Tommy was born in Beaufort County on February 27, 1934, and was the son of the late Samuel Irving and Margaret Gaskins Watson. He had formerly owned and operated a long distance trucking business and had worked as a superintendent on commercial construction sites. He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War with the Military Police.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roselle Jones Watson; and by his sisters, Jean Fulford, Betty Lou Reed, and Fay Watson.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Casper and husband, Danny, of Ahoskie; his son, Tommy Watson, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Camden; five grandchildren, Sierra Watson, Matthew Watson, Brendan Casper, Shelby Jones, and Karson Jones; and his longtime friend and companion, Helen Mitchell of Washington.
In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held.
