Tommy Hollowell

   Thomas Raymond “Tommy” Hollowell, Jr., 85, of 2813 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC, died Friday, January 15, 2021 in Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.

   Mr. Hollowell was born in Chowan County on May 20, 1935, and was one of three children born to the late Thomas R., Sr. and Vera Benton Hollowell. Retired from Union Camp Corp. (now International Paper) in Franklin, VA after 35 years of employment, he was a member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church where he was a member of its Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and the Tuesday Walkers Group. Other enjoyments included his time in both the Cannon’s Ferry and the Oak Grove Hunt Clubs.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William B. “Billy” Hollowell; and by his brother-in-law, Mayward Chappell.

   Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Shirley Parks Hollowell; his son, Martin Bradley Hollowell of Edenton; his sister, Rita Chappell of Hobbsville; and his sister-in-law, Doris Hollowell of Tyner.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Junior White and former Pastor Ron Parr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, attendance at the service is limited to remaining in your car and tuning in to FM-92.3. No formal visitation is planned and the family looks forward to your visits at a later time when it is safer to gather.
