Tommy Councill

   Clyde Thomas “Tommy” Councill, 70, of 113 Gates School Road, Gates, NC, died Friday, January 7, 2022 in his home.

   Mr. Councill was born in Gates County on August 10, 1951, and was the son of the late William Thomas and Mary Lee Burton Councill.

   A Safety Coordinator with International Paper (formerly Union Camp Corp.), he had been employed there for 50 years.

   Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Loretta Gay Parks Councill; three daughters, Sherry Councill White of Gates, Tera Harwell (Erik) of Corapeake, and Miranda Smith (David) of Gates; a son, Clyde Councill (Stephanie) of Virginia Beach, VA; and a sister, Faye Councill Warren (Errol) of Rocky Mount. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Kaylee White, Tommy Councill, Mandilyn White, Dillon White, Grace Councill, Kinsleigh Harwell, Sterlyng Smith, and Noland Harwell.

   Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.

   A private graveside service will be held in Councill Family Cemetery near the residence.
