AEC Thomas Francis "Tom" McBride, Jr. U.S. Coast Guard Retired, 66, of Camden, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in his home where he was being cared for by family.
Mr. McBride was born in Pensacola, FL on September 15, 1955, and was the son of Daisy Peddle Reese (husband, Jeff Reese) and the late Thomas Francis McBride, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Kristopher McBride.
A retired Chief Aviation Electrician's Mate, he was a master electrician and competent C-130 Flight Engineer Instructor who had served the Nation in the Coast Guard for over 21 years. All who served with him were better off for it. A member of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer's Association, other enjoyments and interests included camping, playing golf, participating in anything involving aviation, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife of 20 years, Sandra "Sandy" McBride. Combined, Tom and Sandy have five children, Kate LaPorte (Jim) and Melanie McBride, both of Raleigh, Ryan Hellewell (Daniel) of England, Jessica McBride of Raleigh, and Ashley Majors (Benjamin) of Leland; and five grandchildren, Camryn, Anja, Amiyah, Ella, and James Thomas. Also surviving are his five siblings, Debbie Beauford (Bill) of Bellport, NY, Christine Hunter (John) of Spokane, WA, Mike McBride (Lynn) of St. Petersburg, FL, Shawn McBride of Chunchula, AL, and Kenny McBride (Sonja) of Panama City Beach, FL; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, 1389 NC 343 South, Shiloh, NC. A private burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the church.
