Sybil Lane Carson

   Sybil Louise Lane Carson, 93, of Port Orange, FL, and formerly of Hertford, NC, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Reflections Memory Care of Port Orange.

   Mrs. Carson was born in Perquimans County on June 8, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Elsberry Lane and Ruby Joyner Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Palin Lane and Buel Edgar Carson, and by brothers, Louis and Jimmy Lane.

   A homemaker, she grew up in the fellowship of Great Hope Baptist Church. Other enjoyments in former years included being active in the Pasquotank County Arts Council.

   Surviving are her two daughters, Peggy L. Brown (Philip) of Port Orange and Linda S. Hall of Murphy; two sons, Michael W. Carson (Theresa) of Livingston, TX and Steven D. Carson (Lori) of Citrus Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Cybil Azevedo (Nuno), Kelly Baker (Tracy), Sarah Hough (David), Ryan Carson (Cayli), Robert Carson (Shelby), and Buckley Carson; and other extended family members and friends.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17, at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor H. Gene Boyce. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home the hour prior to the services on Friday.
