Suzanne Spencer Haid

   We regret to announce that on Saturday, June 25, 2022, Suzanne Lynn Spencer "Sue" Haid, 62, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away in Norfolk, VA.

   Sue was born in St. Louis, MO on September 1, 1959, and was the second of six children born to Janet Lloyd Spencer and the late William Homer Spencer.

   In her youth, she loved to travel the world, and in time transferred that love into caring for her family. Her great pride in life was raising her son, Alex. Always quick to reach out and help others, even when she had little to give, she was known to always be kind and generous, without exception.

   Surviving in addition to her mother are her siblings, Cynthia, Penny, Dave, Dan, and Mark; her son, Alex Haid; her partner, Bart Brackel; as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made either to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or to a charity of one's choice.
