Susan Stinson Powell

   Susan Stinson Powell, 67, of Tunis Road, Winton, NC, died Friday, March 5, 2021 in Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro.

   Mrs. Powell was born in Corpus Christi, TX on December 5, 1953, and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Malcom Stinson and Louise Bush Stinson. Employed for many years as a sports department manager with Wal-Mart in Ahoskie, she was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and a former member of the Harrellsville Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star.  Among her many enjoyments in life included going fishing, bowling and working with crafts.  She had very caring spirit towards others and deeply loved her husband, children and grandchildren.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kevin Lassiter. 

   Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Randy Alan Powell; two daughters, Jennifer Lassiter and Sonja Abshire (husband, David); two brothers, Michael and Mark; three sisters, Diane, Judy, and Leela; five grandchildren, Austin, Katie, Kila, Brett, and Blake; and two great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Holly Springs Baptist Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Paul Ange. A private burial will be in the church cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, no formal visitation will be held, however friends may visit with the family at the church immediately following the service on Thursday. Masks and social distancing measures are encouraged.
