Spencer Belangia, Sr.

   Odell Spencer Belangia, Sr., 78, of 240 Tip Toe Road, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, March 10, 2024, in his home.

   Mr. Belangia was born in Bertie County on May 24, 1945, and was the son of the late Edward Belangia and Mae Byrum White.

   Retired from the Edenton-Chowan School System where he worked in the maintenance department, in earlier years he was employed with J.H. Conger Oil Company and later with its successor, Ferrell Gas.

   Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Maribelle Smith Belangia, and their children, Tammy Belangia Woodley (husband, Woody), and Odell Spencer Belangia, Jr., all of Edenton; his grandchildren, Brandon Woodley of Wilson, and Courtney Woodley of Edenton; and his sister, Clara Belangia of Edenton.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Bob Young. The burial will be private in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service or all other times at Tammy and Woody’s home, 244 Tip Toe Road.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Tri-County Animal Shelter, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980.
