Scooter Smith

   Melbourne Boyd “Scooter” Smith, 67, of 1101 East Main Street, Plymouth, NC, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, in his home.

   Scooter was born in Plymouth on December 12, 1950, and was the son of the late Raymond Boyd Smith and Anna Bowen Smith Goodwin. A Merchant Marine, he was a Captain with Moran Towing, and retired after his health began to decline. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the 101st Airborne. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Murray Goodwin.

   Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Elise Hutchins Smith; a sister, Carol Gardner and husband, Tom, of Edenton; a brother, Scott Smith and wife, Glenda, of Plymouth; and five nephews, Brandon Smith, Lee Johnson, and Thomas, Gil, and Isaac Gardner.

   A Celebration to Honor His Life, for his friends and his family, will be held Sunday, November 25th, at 2:00 p.m. at the home.

   No formal visitation is being held, but friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the residence.
