Sarah Sampson Bolognesi

   Sarah Elizabeth Sampson “Sally” Bolognesi, 80, of 225 Nixon’s Beach Road, Edenton, NC, and of Durham, NC, died Friday, July 21, 2023 in her Edenton home following a sudden illness.

   Mrs. Bolognesi was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 28, 1943 and was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Harmon Sampson. A graduate of Russell Sage College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she began her nursing career at Duke University before moving to child development with the State of North Carolina.

   Friends will remember her love of family (especially her grandchildren), the Albemarle Sound, and Duke Athletics. She will be missed.

   Married to Dani Paul Bolognesi for 59 years, he survives with their sons, James Carlo Bolognesi (wife, Jennifer) and Michael Paul Bolognesi (wife, Kelly). Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tristan, Sarah, Mia, John, Marina, and Julia.

   In accordance with her wishes, a private family service is planned.
