Sandra Nix Kelso

Elizabeth City, NC---

Sandra Raye Nix Kelso, 72, of 103 Green Run Court, passed away and joined her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 20, 2024 from Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

Mrs. Kelso was born in Marion County, IN on April 15, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Luther Trevis and Nona May Short Nix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Wayne Kelso, and by a daughter, JoElla Renee Kelso Alexander.

A longtime school bus driver, she retired from the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, Indiana in 2020. Since moving to Elizabeth City, she enjoyed membership in Fountain of Life Church.

Surviving are her two daughters, Nicole Kelso Thomas (husband, Chris) and Michele Kelso; her son, Ronald Wayne Kelso, II (wife, Shannon); her eight siblings, Michael, Teresa, Gregory, Denise, Brian, Cindy, Bruce, and Jennifer; 10 grandchildren, Ashli,Kati, Brittany, Sandi, Keith, Noah, John, Vanessa, Bailey, and Corin; four great-grandchildren, Marie, Cora, Everlee, and Jonathan; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A service in Celebration of her Life will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Life Center of Fountain of Life Church and will be conducted by Pastor Hans Hess. Friends may visit with the family in the church immediately following the service or other times at the residence.
