   Sallie Mulder Landen, 94, formerly of Dunn, N.C. died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Greenville, N.C. 

   Mrs. Landen was born in the Eure community of Gates County on June 17, 1929, and was the oldest of two children born to the late Reuben and Elizabeth Cullins Mulder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband, John W. Landen, Jr.; by her youngest son, Thomas H. Landen, and by her brother, Reuben (Jake) Mulder, Jr.

   Mrs. Landen was a resident of Dunn for over 60 years before moving to Spring Arbor in Greenville in 2020. A longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Dunn, she spent most of her career working for Carolina Telephone Co. in both Dunn and Rocky Mount. After her retirement, she enjoyed working part-time in the children’s department at Belks. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

   Surviving are two sons, John W. Landen, III and wife, Connie, of Greenville, and Michael Landen and wife, Joanie, of Farmville; six grandchildren, Jay Landen (Meghan) and Will Landen (Julia) both of Wilmington, Drew Landen (Caroline) of Raleigh, Beth Wegner (Travis) of Wilmington, and Jonathan Landen (Leighane) and Kristin Mayo (James), both of Farmville. Her ten great-grandchildren are Kaylee, Wade, Allie, Amy, Cecilia, Isabelle, Ella, and Sadie Landen, and Bristol and Kenlee Mayo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Peggy Mulder of Franklin, VA; two nieces and two nephews. 

   Mrs. Landen leaves behind her long-time church family, her neighbors and friends in Dunn, and her new friends and staff members at Spring Arbor in Greenville whom she came to love in recent years. 

   Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the service has been relocated to Eure Baptist Church, 292 Corner High Road in Eure. It will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28th, and will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the fellowship hall following the service.

   A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church in Dunn. Friends may visit with the family following the service. 

   Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 309 Broad St., Dunn, NC. 29334, or to Eure Baptist Church, P.O. Box 70, Eure, N.C. 27935.
