Ruth Lee Spisak

   Ruth Agnes Lee Spisak, 90, of 1699 Morgans Corner Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in her home where she was surrounded by family. 

   Ruth was born in Greensville County, VA on March 18, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Isham Mack Lee and Mattie Coates Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Ronald Keith Spisak and Bobby Bruce Spisak; a great-grandson David L Spisak, Jr.; and her 13 siblings, one of which was her twin sister, Ruby. 

   Ruth was the matriarch of her family. She was a homemaker by nature but retired from Hardee’s in Portsmouth, VA. While employed with Hardee’s she received several awards, traveled with the company, was written about in several magazine articles, and was asked to be in company commercials. Ruth was satisfied not accepting a general manager positon so she could continue to be with her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and making jams and jellies to share with her family. She loved going to the collard patch and soaking them in the tub before calling family over to help cook and eat them. With her family always came first. 

   Surviving are her children, Ruby “Windy” Todd (Brent), Tammy Norman (Tim), and John Spisak, Jr. (Jacquelyn); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart; and Audrey Harris, her best friend and neighbor. 

   The family would like to invite you to join them for a Celebration of Life reception to be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2pm-4pm at the Newland Ruritan Building, located 1010-1002, US-158, Elizabeth City, North Carolina 27909.
