Rusty Stallings

Louis Richard “Rusty” Stallings, IV, entered eternal rest at his residence in Belvidere, NC on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Rusty was born in Elizabeth City on November 16, 1997 to Louis Richard “Ricky” Stallings, III and Ann Denise Winslow Stallings. He resided in Belvidere for his entire life and leaves behind a large family and numerous friends to cherish his memory. Rusty was a much beloved son, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. An avid outdoorsman, he was currently serving as president of Turnpike Hunt Club, and also enjoyed membership in both Ducks Unlimited and Sunbeam Hunt Club (Franklin, VA). Rusty spent countless time chasing the big bucks and traveling countless miles to find the waterfowl. His numerous friends will remember time spent with him with much laughter and fondness. He was christened in the Methodist faith and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. His belief in Jesus gives those remaining behind comfort that we will see him again. Rusty was wonderful with children and loved his nephew Brooks Pawlowski, his younger cousins, and the children of his many friends- and they all loved “Uncle Wusty.” In addition to loving hard and playing hard, he also worked hard. Rusty started at eight years of age helping his daddy at R & R Farms, and continued to work with him and to love farming even as he followed different employment. He worked at Southern States as a sprayer applicator, among other things, and was employed at Nucor Steel, Cofield, as melt shop utility at the time of his death. His coworkers were also friends who will mourn his passing. He was a 2016 graduate of Perquimans County High School.

In addition to his parents, Rusty is survived by his sister, Amber Love Stallings Pawlowski (Tom) and nephew, Brooks Gordon Pawlowski; maternal grandparents, Arland and Helen Gregory Winslow; his aunts, Andrea Winslow Buford (Al), Brenda Stallings Winslow, and Diane Stallings White (R.P.); cousins, Matthew and Macy Buford, Matt White, LeAnna White Lee (Brian), Jessica Winslow Chappell (Aaron), and Hayden Winslow; and numerous second cousins (those children he loved). He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Richard and Patsy Wiley Stallings; an uncle, John Robert Winslow; and a cousin, John Richard “J. R.” Winslow.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at “the shop” (161 Riddick Grove Road, Belvidere), where so many memories were made, and will be conducted by Pastor Darryl Stallings. Friends may visit with the family there at the shop immediately following the service, and other times at his parents’ home, 159 Riddick Grove Road. Belvidere. A private graveside service will be held at Up River Friends Cemetery, Belvidere, and will be conducted by Pastor James Spaugh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to State Employees Credit Union, 142 Ocean Hwy. S., Hertford, NC, 27944, to a UMTA for his beloved nephew, Brooks, who has been promised to always know who Uncle Rusty was and is.
