Edna “Rose” Norris Wright, 86, of Currituck, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in her home.
Rose was born in Edenton, Chowan County, on April 13, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Eugene Norris and Alethia Basnight Norris.
Rose was first and foremost a follower of Jesus. Her career journey began as an operator for AT&T, and then her lifelong career as a mom and caregiver took off. She raised four of her own children and 100s of children called her “Rosie” as she invested tirelessly in their lives. A mother, caregiver, and friend to many, she was “Mr. Sonny’s” number one fan, a member of Providence Baptist Church and an avid card and game player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred “Sonny” Wright, Jr., her son, Alfred “Sonny Boy” Wright, and by her brothers, Ray, Earl, and Danny Norris.
Surviving are her three daughters and their families: Cindy and Mike Mandigo, Kim and Kenny Gould, Linda and Lee Prillaman, and her daughter-in-law, Kristie Wright; sisters-in-law, Joan Clark, Lib Wright, Nancy Norris, Nancy Clark, and Linda Norris; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. in Providence Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Rikard. Graveside services will immediately follow in the Moyock Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family in the social hall of the church following the graveside services.
