Ronald Trombetti

Ronald “Ron” Trombetti, of Edenton, NC, passed away on January 8, 2025, after his three-year battle with colon cancer.

Ron was born July 30, 1957, in Astoria Queens, NY to the late George and Frances Hall “Fran” Trombetti. George and Fran loved the Hudson Valley area of NY, especially Carmel and would regularly take the train to enjoy the outdoors and fish the day away on Lake Gleneida. Their love for this area drew them to move when Ron was three years old to a wonderful neighborhood home on Gleneida Ridge Road in the small Hamlet of Carmel near many of New York’s reservoirs and somewhat overlooking Lake Gleneida where it all began. Ron’s siblings included his older brother, Steven, and younger sister, Lauren. They all loved the outdoors, but Ron especially, as hiking, fishing, hunting, golfing, baseball were some of his favorites. Collecting coins, baseball cards, max box cars, and trains were a natural pastime then and throughout his adult life. Living “the outdoors” and collecting were his favorite things!

He graduated from Carmel High School and furthered his education at Husson College in Bangor Maine, graduating with a bachelor’s in business. His first job was at Readers Digest Corporate in Chappaqua, NY where he unexpectedly met and fell in love with his wife of 46 years, Celeste Roberts Trombetti of Peekskill, NY. Ron went on to work at IBM, Watson Pharmaceuticals and lastly Bedford School District where he retired in 2019. While opposites attract, Ron and Celeste each had many different interests, but their bond was truly over the simple things in life and their love for the outdoors, camping, “Jeeping,” campfires in the beach, and the endless beauty of the ocean - two souls intertwined like the waves in the sea. Both desired a private ceremony, they eloped to Hagerstown, MD and married in 1981, followed by a honeymoon jaunt to OBX, the Outer Banks of NC. They bought their first home in Holmes NY and lived there for most of their marriage, their Cottage in the woods on a couple acres of wooded land where they grew their family of Labrador Retrievers and kitties. Ron cherished his family and friends, fur babies included.

In 2021, Ron and Celeste moved to Edenton, NC to live out their dream after retirement. Settling just a short distance from the Outer Banks, where they planned to enjoy many years by the beach and continue to vacation at their favorite house rental “The Sea Dragon” located in Avon. Ron loved their new home overlooking the Chowan River, nestled on an acre of land in Arrowhead Beach! Our new addition was the He Shed “the Mangey Moose”. He loved to tinker alone there.

A traditional guy who loved his family, friends, and fur babies, he led a quiet life but made a big impact on all who knew and loved him.

Ron is survived by his wife, Celeste Trombetti of Edenton; his sister, Lauren Kennedy of Woodbury, CT (Lauren's husband, Neil Kennedy, deceased); sisters-in-law, Dana Schwartz of Portland, OR, Kim and Rick Carman of Woodstock, IL, Nancy Williams and George Sayegh of Clitondale, NY; and many loving nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents and brother-in-law, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Trombetti of Asharoken, NY, Celeste’s parents, Charles and Deloras Roberts of Peekskill, NY, and brother-in-law, Charlie Roberts of White Plains NY.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s local animal shelter as there are so many animals in need of homes and rescue. It will be very much appreciated!
