Ronald Patrick Anderson

   Ronald Patrick "Toy Man Andy" Anderson, 83, of Hertford, NC, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Anderson was born in Montana on October 14, 1938, and was the son of the late Howard Andrew "Andy" Anderson and Audrey Smith "Sally" Anderson.

   A retired Boatswain's Mate First Class and Vietnam War veteran, he had served in the US Navy for a total of 20 years. A member of both the Fleet Reserve Association and Durants Neck Ruritan Club, he was also a proud and longtime member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS). Other community involvement included being active in the Perquimans County Senior Center, and many remember him for his talent of making wooden toys such as cars, trucks, and planes, which he enjoyed sharing with others.

   Surviving is his brother, Gerald Anderson (wife, Nita); and his special companions and caregivers, Rose Thomas and John Olszewski.

  A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in New Hope United Methodist Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Carroll Bundy. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the service on Saturday.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Durants Neck Ruritan Club Scholarship Fund, 2151 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
