   Roland Allan Brooks, 93, of 302 Woodland Drive, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020, in his home.

   Mr. Brooks was born in Boston, MA on October 23, 1926, and was the son of the late Ezra Whitaker, Sr. and Alice Evelyn Wilder Brooks. A retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy having served 21 years, he was a veteran of the World War II, Korean, and Vietnam Wars.  Following his military career, he had worked with Horne Brothers Ship Repair for 18 years. He was a member of both Ruritan International and the former Albemarle Baptist Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Brown Brooks; a son, Robert William Brooks; two brothers, Ezra Whitaker Brooks, Jr. and Gerald Edward Brooks; a grandson; and a granddaughter.

   Surviving are his two daughters, Diana Lynn Brooks of Raleigh and Teressa B. Zaruba of Yorktown, VA; a son, Neal Allan Brooks and wife, Kendra, of Elizabeth City; a daughter-in-law, Becky Brooks of Washington; two sisters, Olive Page Jarman and Sarah Jane Pursley; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

   In accordance with his wishes no services are planned. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
