Roger Shingleton

   Will Roger Shingleton, 73, of 415 Reynoldson Road, Gates, NC, died Sunday, February 28, 2021 in his home where he was cared for by his family.

   Mr. Shingleton was born in Salem, VA on September 24, 1947, and was the son of the late Wayne Whittington Shingleton, Sr. and Lucille Francisco Shingleton. He and his wife owned and operated Doris & Roger’s Kitchen for many years prior to retirement.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Jr. and James Shingleton.

   Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Doris Harrell Shingleton; his daughter, Melissa S. Walters (husband, Dave) of Zuni, VA; his son, Roger Lee Shingleton of Roduco; four sisters, Janet Young of Statesville, Jane Ambrose of Gates, Connie Norton of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Bonnie Eason of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Morrel Shingleton, and Quinton, Preston, and Kayton Walters; and a great-grandchild, Gunner Shingleton.

   A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Reynoldson Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastors Bonnie Eason and Roy Young. With restrictions associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic, no formal visitation is being held, however friends may visit with the family at the home. Masks and social distancing measures are encouraged.
