Robin Hollowell

 Robin Rae Hollowell, 71, of 215 East Palmetto Street, Kill Devil Hills, NC, died Monday, July 1, 2024, in Sentara Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.

 Robin was born in Chowan County on June 5, 1953, and was the daughter of the late Robert Paul Hollowell, Sr. and Willie Mae Spivey Hollowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dara Gwen Harrell, by her sister, Judith H. Holland, by her brother, Robert P. “Bobby” Hollowell, Jr., and by “Willie”, the faithful canine companion that was left behind when Dara died in December of last year.

 Employed with the US Postal Service for 28 years, she had served as the Postmaster of the Sunbury Post Office in Gates County. After retiring and moving to the family cottage near the Avalon Fishing Pier, she was a member of Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church. Many may remember that she acted in several plays at the Encore Theater in Elizabeth City, but all who knew her personally will remember her humor, her quick wit, and that she always made people laugh.

 Surviving is her son, John Patrick Harrell of Kill Devil Hills, her granddaughter, Sasha Renee Harrell of California; extended family, and many, many friends.

 A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 10th, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Betsy Haas. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service. A private burial will be by her parents in the Damascus Christian Church Cemetery in Sunbury.
