Robert Arthur “Bobby” Partridge, 74, of Roper, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 in his home.
Mr. Partridge was born in Queens, NY on June 12, 1949, and was the son of the late Francis “Frank” and Edith Ryder Partridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Wooley.
Retired as a Sergeant from the New York City Police Department following over 20 years of service having spent much of that time as a patrol officer, he was a longtime member and supporter of the Sergeant Benevolence Association. A Catholic by faith, he will be remembered as a wonderful man who would do anything in his power to help someone else in need. Gifted in many areas of life including as a mechanic, electrician and in construction work, he had built his own home while living in Pennsylvania and later handled many home renovations at his residence in North Carolina. A car fanatic, he loved working on cars and was a member of the MG Car Club. Other enjoyments included the game of pool, which he played very well. In addition to his care and concern for the wellbeing of others, he always held a special place and love for animals in his heart.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Cynthia Klein Partridge; a son, Daniel Partridge (wife, Melissa) of Lords Valley, PA; and a grandson, Ryan Partridge.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, in Edenton. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
