Robert Harold Lowery

Robert Harold “Bob” Lowery, 84, of 899 US Highway 32 N., Corapeake, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

 Mr. Lowery was born in South Boston, VA on May 27, 1940, and was the son of the late Sherman and Virginia Sue Pool Lowery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Grubb, and by brothers, James “Jim” Lowery and Wayne “Cotton” Lowery.

 Known by many of his friends as “Pigtail,” he had a long career as a water treatment inspector having retired from CH2M Hill Company. A member of Damascus Christian Church, other community involvement and memberships through the years included both the Sunbury Ruritan Club and Sunbury Memorial Post 7312 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he enjoyed serving as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was an Army veteran.

 Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Patricia Reilly Lowery; a son, Greg Lowery (Kim Hardee) of Corapeake; two daughters, Tracey Lee (Darrick) of Williamston and Amy Everett (Kenny) of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Sarah Lowery (Michael), Chance Lowery, Austin Lee (Tori), Brittany Lee (Cody), and Samantha Everett; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Gardner.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Damascus Christian Church and will be conducted by The Rev. Mark Wethington. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church the hour prior to the services on Saturday.
