Ricky David Scott

   Ricky David Scott, 68, of Woodland Drive, Edenton, NC, died Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, in SECU Hospice House, Smithfield, NC.

   Mr. Scott was born in Martin County on December 2, 1955, and was the son of the late David Daniel and Dorothy Louise Edmondson Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Rae Thomas Scott; his brother, Steven Scott; and by a grandson, Joey.

   Ricky retired from Regulator Marine where he worked in the design and building of the cabinetry in their boats. He was a member of Edenton Church of God.

   Surviving are his children, Tina Gilbert (husband, Jason) and Tracy Williams (husband, Chris), both of Middlesex, and Steven Goff (wife, Tina) of DeRidder, LA; and his sister, Lisa Buck (husband, Tim) of New Bern. Also surviving are Donna’s children, Tracy Davenport of Edenton and Joe Davenport (wife, Charlotte) of Creswell. Together Ricky and Donna shared 13 grandchildren, Tiffany, Haley, Katelyn, Chris, Brianna, Ricky, Jordan, Victoria, Brian, Taylor, Ryan, Cassie, and Jocelyn; and 5 great grandchildren, Kaden, Mason, Korbin, Brayden, and Brandon.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastors Roger Leggett, Jerry Norris, and Frank Halsey. The burial will follow in the Layton Family Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
