   Richard Thomas Harmon, 65, of 097 US Hwy 158 East, Gatesville, NC, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in his home.

   Mr. Harmon was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on January 4, 1955, and was the son of the late Gerald K. and Lillian Gatling Harmon. A graduate of Cradock High School in Portsmouth where he played football and baseball, he loved watching sports, especially the Washington Redskins, NASCAR’s Denny Hamlin, and Duke Blue Devils basketball. He had retired after working many years as a diesel mechanic and truck driver.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine H. Ambrose, and by a brother, Stephen R. Harmon.

   Surviving are a daughter, Joy Landers, and three sons, Richard, Eric, and Aaron Harmon, all of the San Diego area of California; a sister, Ann Long of Portsmouth; a brother, Al Harmon, also of Portsmouth, and his twin brother, Gerald Harmon (Lisa) of Gatesville; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A Celebration of Life gathering for close friends and family members is being planned and will be announced at a later time.
