Richard Raymond Guthlein

   Richard Raymond Guthlein, 58, of Edenton House Assisted Living, Edenton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.

   Richard was born in Queens, New York on January 5, 1960, and was the son of the late Raymond Francis Theodore Guthlein and Patricia Joan Scarpati Guthlein. A longtime resident of Greensboro, he had worked as a greeter in Harris Teeter and Target stores, and in dining room custodial work for both McDonald’s and Wendy’s restaurants, and was well known citywide by many of its residents. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

   Surviving are his sister, Lynda G. Garguilo and husband, Michael, of Edenton; a niece, Dyane Garguilo Krupp and husband, Andrew; and two nephews, Guy Garguilo and Michael Garguilo, II.

   A memorial mass will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne Catholic Church, and will be conducted by Father John Brown. Inurnment will be at a later date in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at his sister’s home, 112 Country Club Drive.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPRED Program, (Special Population Religious Education), St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC 27410, or to the Chowan County Speical Olympics, in care of Stacey Hoffman, 2845 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC 27980.
