Rev. Ashby Browder

   The Reverend Richard Ashby Browder, Sr., 78, of 909 West Queen Street, Edenton, NC, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

   Born in Brunswick County, Virginia on September 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Charles Linwood Browder, Sr. and Edna Flood Browder. A graduate of Virginia Bible College, he was a pastor for 53 years. He served at Faith Baptist Church in Windsor, NC for 5 years, Immanuel Baptist Church in Edenton for 20 years and for the last 28 years at a church he and his wife founded, Faith Baptist Church in Columbia, NC. Additionally, for 38 years he was a partner in Northeast Guttering Company.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evangeline Browder Smith.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Lucy Daughtry Browder; their sons, Rev. Richard A. “Ricky” Browder, Jr. and wife, Denise, of Edenton, Rev. John Randall “Randy” Browder and wife, Missy, of Asheboro, and Rev. Christopher Glynn Browder and wife, Natalie, of Fernandina Beach, FL; a sister, Jean Moseley of Lawrenceville, VA; a brother, Charles L. “Lin” Browder, Jr. and wife, Betty, of Currituck; ten grandchildren, Allen (Amanda), Andrew (Morgan), Austin, Kaleb, Graycie, Brycen, Joshua, Emma, Macie, and Aliya; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Henry, and Addy.

   Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery, and will be conducted by his sons. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, no formal visitation will be held, however the family will receive friends at the gravesite immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
