Randy Glenn Winslow, Sr.

Randy Glenn Winslow, Sr., 61, of Hillsborough, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice House, Pittsboro, NC.

   Mr. Winslow was born in Hampton, VA on December 13, 1962, and was the son of the late Lawrence Neil and Kathryne Ann Ward Winslow. A graduate of Perquimans County High School, he later attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, he started his career with the company in 1985 as a drug screener, and through the years held various positions in Member Services, Compliance & Privacy and most recently as a Senior Business Systems Analyst in e-Solutions. An active member and former Deacon of Cane Creek Baptist Church, he also enjoyed the fellowship as a brother in the Kappa Psi Fraternity. He loved gardening, NASCAR racing, and was a diehard Tar Heel fan.

   Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Paige Hollowell Winslow; his son, Randy G. Winslow, Jr. of Charlotte; his beloved “grand-dog” Apollo; a sister, Jenny Powell (husband, Leroy) of Camden; two brothers, Rick Winslow (wife, Charmayne) of Bonneau Beach, SC and Jeff Winslow (wife, Lorie) of Elizabeth City; and several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

   Friends may join the family Friday, April 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. At the beginning of the visitation, his pastor, Dr. Michael Ramsey, will share a few short remarks about Randy.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. in Cane Creek Baptist Church, 6901 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church the hour prior to the services on Sunday, and again in the Activity Center of the church immediately following the gravesite rites.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in Randy’s memory may be made either to Cane Creek Baptist Church, 6901 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278, to Great Hope Baptist Church, 197 Great Hope Church Road, Hertford, NC 27944, or to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
