William Randolph “Randy” Pridgen, 65, of 396 Ocean Highway North, Hertford, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Mr. Pridgen was born in Pasquotank County on March 23, 1958 and was the son of the late Cleveland Randolph Pridgen and Doris Abbott Pridgen Summerlin.
Employed as a machinist with Ashley Welding & Machine Company for 35 years, he was known for his exceptional skill, earning him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Some of his greatest enjoyments in life included mowing grass and gardening.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 33 years, Sharon Rountree Pridgen; two step-sons, Norman and Charlie Finley; five grandchildren, Jack, Brianna, Makara, Isabelle, and Natalie; a sister, Maxine Poulos; and two aunts, Gurtie Deland and Carolyn Pitzing. Also surviving are Sharon's family: her father, Wilson Rountree; two sisters, Janet Rountree (Chris) and Donna Pierce; two brothers, James Rountree (Nancy) and Jeff Rountree (Teresa); along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by The Rev. Steve Feehan. A private burial will follow Monday in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Warrenton. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Sunday, and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Heart Association.
