Ramona Chappell Jones

 Ramona Chappell Jones, 90, of 644 Happy Home Road, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, in her home where she was being cared for by family.

 Mrs. Jones was born in Chowan County on February 3, 1935, and was the daughter of the late James Freeland and Alpine Dail Chappell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Braxton Lorenzo Jones, her son, Barry B. Jones, sisters, Louise Dickens Twine and Leitha “Lea” Dilday, and by a brother, Louis Chappell.

 A homemaker, in earlier years she had been employed with both the former Don Juan Manufacturing Co. and Cannon’s Ferry Fishery. She was a faithful member of Happy Home Church.

 Surviving are her three sons, Lonnie Jones (wife, Dawn) and Howard Jones, both of Tyner, and Dale Jones (wife, Amber) of Elizabeth City; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (wife, Alicia), Derek (wife, Holly), Seth, Kayla (husband, Shane), William, Michael, Barrett, and Chandler; nine great-grandchildren, Kaelan, Maxen, Seren, Chloe, Braxton, Lydia, Darren, Benson, and Asher; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Happy Home Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Walter Byrum and her grandson, Pastor Derek Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
