Ralph Jackson “Red” Goodwin, 74, of 85 Taylor Mill Road, died Thursday, January 2, 2025, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.
Mr. Goodwin was born in Carteret County on July 5, 1950, and was the son of the late Harold Sterling and Mary Ellen Evans Goodwin. Retired from Ciba Specialty Chemicals, he was a member of Eure Baptist Church. Other memberships enjoyed through the years included the Gates County Sporting Dogs, Hare’s Millpond and Ray’s Beach Fishing Club.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Catherine “Cathy” Horton-Goodwin; a sister, Judy Long of Indio, CA; a brother, Sonny Goodwin (wife, Patricia) of Yorktown, VA; “special family”, Tracy and Emily Eure and Bracey and Crystal Perry; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Eure Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by The Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Friends may visit with the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eure Baptist Church, in care of Debra Vaughan, PO Box 70, Eure, NC 27935.
