  Peggy Louise Perry Hooper, 87, a longtime resident of New York, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Commonwealth Senior Living of Hampton, VA.

 Ms. Hooper was born in Chowan County on December 11, 1936, and was one of nine children born to the late William Fletcher and Edith P. Perry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Evans, Frances Keeter, and Barbara Sawyer; and by brothers, Jack, Robert, William Dorsey, and Fletcher Perry.

 While employed in the New York Public School System, she taught music on the elementary level, and later served as the Supervisor of Teachers. She was a member of City Road United Methodist Church in Elizabeth City.

 Surviving is her brother, William Stanford “Stan” Perry (wife, Mary Vaughan), and a sister-in-law, Sally Perry, all of Suffolk, VA; and nieces, nephews, and extended members of the Perry family.

 A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 10th, at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the grave following the service.
