   Patricia Ann “Patty” Smith Madry, 78, of 503 Seaview Drive, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 in her home.

   Patty was born in Greensboro, NC on March 5, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Norman and Dora Smith. The retired Director of Chowan County Emergency Medical Services, she will be remembered by many for her love of gardening and growing flowers, and for never missing the opportunity to enjoy her music and friends at David’s Red Barn.

   Surviving are two sons, Eddie McNair (wife, Lisa) of Edenton, and Ronnie McNair (wife, Amy) of Havelock; and her sister, Becky Taylor (Glenn), and their son, Norman (Nikki), all of Rockingham. Also surviving are two grandsons, Shane and Aaron.

   Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 5th, at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery. With the resurgence of the Covid Virus in the area, no formal visitation is planned; however, friends may visit with the family at the graveside immediately following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Tri-County Animal Shelter, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980, or to Chowan EMS, 208 West Hicks Street, Edenton, NC 27932.

   The family expresses their deep appreciation to her caregivers, and to the staff of Amedysis Hospice, for the comfort provided their loved one during these last months of declining health.
