Patsy Jean Owens Plyler, 70, of 104 Zion Road, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, in her home where she was being cared for by family.
Mrs. Plyler was born in Chowan County on October 5, 1954, and was the daughter of the late Julian Wood “Boot” and Hattie Ruth Bass Owens. Retired from the Gates County Board of Elections following 15 years of employment, in earlier years she had worked with the Gates County Tax Department. A faithful member of Zion United Methodist Church, she cherished her family and loved spending time with them.
Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Conrad Norfleet “Fleet” Plyler; two sons, Daniel Plyler (Oxana) of Camden and Brian Plyler (Rachel) of Hertford; her sister, Betty Owens Morris (David) of Hobbsville; three grandchildren, Evelyn and Ethan Plyler, and Cole Benge; two nephews, Chris Morris (Bobbi Jo) and Kevin Morris; and other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. DeWayne Duncan and Pastor Kevin Senn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
