Patience Elizabeth Pinckney Ford

Affectionally known to her family and friends as Pattye, or #2, she was born on September 8, 1934 in Savannah, GA. She was the second of four children born to Rufus and Ruth Brown Pinckney.

At the young age of seven years, Patience’ mother Ruth passed away. Her Aunt Belle (her mother’s sister) stepped in and helped raise her and her siblings. By the age of ten, the family relocated to New York.

Patience graduated from Washington Irvin High School in New York. She then attended Monroe Business School where she learned secretarial skills. She worked at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Medical Records Department, where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Joseph Ford. She also worked at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf, where she was Teacher’s Assistant. Her last employment before retirement was at the East Bronx Family Service Center where she was the Administrative Secretary. Fluent in Spanish, a skill she used regularly while working at East Bronx.

Upon retirement, Patience relocated to Edenton, NC so she could be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Once in Edenton, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and at D.F. Walker School helping students with reading.

Patience loved her family, the beach, art, and traveling to other countries and throughout the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt, and siblings, #1 Constance, #3 Rufus, and #4 George, and by her son, Cameron Scott Dashiell. Patience leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her husband, Joseph Ford of Edenton; her daughter, Karen Ames, also of Edenton; four grandchildren, Nikia Ames of Greensboro, Antonio Ames of Edenton, Sakima Ames (Raven Cole) of Tarboro, and Natashia (Mark) Seals of Norfolk, VA; six great-grandchildren, Shanaysia, Jayden, Christian, Ky.Moni, Khalil, and Aidan; one great-great-grandchild, Nyairah Malayna, and a host of extended family and friends.

The Family would like to thank everyone for all the calls, posts, cards, and love expressed to us at this time.
