Norman Douglas Sawyer

   Norman Douglas "Shorty" Sawyer, 55, of 409 White Hat Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 in his home.

   Born in Pasquotank County on September 6, 1964, he was the son of William Douglas Sawyer (Marcia) of Hertford and the late Brenda Orlean Twine Sawyer. A carpenter by trade, he was a member of Berea Church of Christ, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.  He had served in the Army National Guard.

   In addition to his father and step-mother, surviving are his wife of 24 years, Victoria Sawyer; three sons, Brandon Curles of Camden, Cody Sawyer of Hertford, and Stone Sawyer of Angier; a sister, Kim Rae Cartwright; a brother, Faron Sawyer (Sarah), all of Hertford; nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. in Berea Church of Christ, and will be conducted by Evangelist Jay Corprew.  The family recognizes the restrictions associated with the Coronavirus Pandemic and understands family and friends using their care and judgment concerning attendance.
