Murray Baker Williams, Sr., 83, of Edenton Primetime, died there on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Mr. Williams was born in Chowan County on October 11, 1937, and was the son of the late Ernest Baker Williams and Lottie Wilson Williams. A retired mechanic in the Spooler Room at the Edenton Cotton Mill, he was a member and deacon of Cape Colony Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Mitchell Williams; a sister, Bernice Brooks; and by brothers, Louis, Lindsey, Marvin, and Lloyd.
Surviving are two sons, Murray B. Williams, Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Hobbsville and Mark C. Williams and wife, Anna, of Hertford; a brother, Kermit Williams of Cary; four grandchildren, Beth Copeland (James), Adam Williams (Andrea), Jake Williams (Sharon), and Ryan Williams; and six great-grandchildren, Mason and Sage Copeland, and Gabriel, Tobias, Aurora, and Isaac Williams.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services on Tuesday, and other times at Murray and Sarah’s home, 54 Catherine Creek Road, Hobbsville.
