Monty Tunstall

   Fred Montague “Monty” Tunstall, III, 55, of 205 Colony Drive, Edenton, NC, died Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

   Monty was born in Bertie County on September 3, 1967, and was the son of Gloria Jean Spruill Tunstall of Edenton and the late Fred M. Tunstall, Jr. A supervisor with ZBZ Mechanical in Virginia Beach, VA, he was a member of The Sons of The Legion, Edward G. Bond Post #40.

   In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dixie Lee Terry Tunstall; his children, Mattie Lee Tunstall and Carly King, both of Edenton, Heath Garrett (wife, Diana) of Boiling Springs, SC and Zach Garrett of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Gene Tunstall (wife, Sandra, and children, Noah and Meredith) of Edenton; and five grandchildren, Curtis, Charlie, Elsie, Morde, and Broadus.

   A private family gathering is planned.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Sons of The Legion, 1317 W. Queen Street, Edenton, NC 27932, or to the Tri-County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center, 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980.

   Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
