Michelle Scheuer Brown

   Michelle Scheuer Brown (Shelly), 65, passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 22, 2025. Michelle was born and raised in Richmond, Michigan but has spent the last 30+ years in northeast North Carolina. She resided in Winton, NC for the last 9 years where she enjoyed small town living with a very special neighbor, Ms. Cynthia.

   Michelle dedicated much of her career to serving the public through retail and customer service. In her later years, before retirement, Michelle worked at Speedway and Family Dollar, where she found joy in connecting with her customers. Through her work, she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many with her kindness. A hard worker at heart, she will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her generosity, and her willingness to help anyone in need.

   Outside of work, her greatest joys were her grandchildren. She cherished every moment that she spent with her family. She most recently enjoyed having the pleasure of picking up her granddaughter, Braelyn, from school once a week; always bringing her a special (not mom approved) snack.

   Michelle is survived by her loving mother, Patricia Scheuer, of Richmond, MI, brothers David (Bernie) Scheuer, and Chuck (Kim) Scheuer of Richmond, MI and brother, Gerald (Lisa) Scheuer of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her sisters Patti Collins, Sharon (Mike) Bickley, Sue (Tim) Ziobro, Judy (Steve) Schafer, and Mary Scheuer, all of Michigan; along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

   Left to cherish her memory in North Carolina are her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Larry Newsome, and her four beloved grandchildren, Braxton, Brycen, Broden, and Braelyn Newsome, who all brought her endless pride and joy. Additionally, Mike and Amanda Watson of Roanoke Rapids, NC, were friends who became like family to Michelle, along with their daughter, Mikayla, who fondly referred to her as G-ma. Michelle was blessed with many dear friends who will forever cherish the memories and love she shared with them.

   She is also survived by her daughter, Anna Mumaugh (husband Dan) of Navarre, FL, with whom she reconnected later in life, and was proud to have three grandchildren through Anna: Brianna, Damien, and Daniel. Daniel preceded her in death in 2020.

   Also preceding Michelle in death were her father, Donald Scheuer and her husband, Sherman Brown.

   Michelle’s family will gather in Michigan, the place she was raised and always considered home, to celebrate her life. While no formal service is scheduled in North Carolina, those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to do so in their own special way. The family is thankful for the outpouring of love, support, and kind words during this difficult time. Michelle’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
