Mearplene Hudson Peeples

   Mearplene Hudson Peeples, 89, of 143 Poplar Neck Road, Edenton, NC, went to her eternal home on Monday, June 12, 2023 from ECU Health Bertie Hospital, Windsor.

   Mrs. Peeples was born in Edenton on September 4, 1933 and was raised in the Cotton Mill, one of four children born to the late David T. and Mollie Cayton Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Morgan Hudson; by sisters Addie Jethro and Ruth Shackelford; and by her husband of 50 years, Henry Oscar Peeples.

   A Class of 1952 graduate from what is now John A. Holmes High School in Edenton, she retired from RBC Bank after spending her entire working career in Edenton. Mrs. Peeples worshipped and grew in her faith while attending Immanuel Baptist Church. Her love for her Creator was evident in the way she loved, sacrificed, and served her family, friends, and the people of her community.

   Surviving are two daughters, Regina Ann Keeter (husband, Fred) of Edenton and Amanda Kay Morgan of Manteo; three grandchildren, Chris Sawyer (wife, Heather), Wayne Sawyer (wife, Tina), and Hillary Morgan (fiancé, Chris Simpson); and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Payton Sawyer.

   A memorial service will be held Friday, June 16th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services. The private burial will be next to her husband in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
